June 03, Department – Fashion Design. The jewellery department also showcased very fascinating work. This Department Featured Approx 30 Students. Fashion Design was perhaps the next best showcase of talent, commitment and creativity. Moreover, ornaments from these traditions also peeked in through the designs on the fabrics.

An Interview with Ali and Najia Paracha. For instance, within the furniture design department, one of the students chose to revive traditional knitwear techniques via her work, whereas, another one chose to design her stools, tabletops and mirrors around the geometry of honeycombs.

This department had less abstract themes compared to textile and fashion, and seemed to receive greater appreciation by the crowd. Within this project the students had come up with fabric textures, which not emanated light but also had three dimensions to them.
Only 4 years before in the same building with same teachers and same environment I was presenting my work as a student.
All year round, final year students at PIFD wait for the display week, for it heralds the successful completion of their four year degree and puts the fruit of their relentless hard work out for the world to see.
